Gary Fisher invented mountain bikes in 1983. He is titled the Father of Modern Mountain Bikes for coining the term ‘mountain bike’ in 1979. In 1991, Fisher sold the company to Taiwan's Anlen company and stayed as its President. The credits for developing the first commercially produced full-suspension bikes go to Gary Fisher. The manufacturer's first bike, Gary Fisher RS-1, was officially designed by the former champion motorcycle racer Mert Lawwill and launched in 1992. In the same year, Howie Cohen assisted Gary Fisher with the brand, who later brokered the sale of Fisher to the Trek Bicycle Corporation. In June 2010, the corporation announced replacing the Gary Fisher collection (a Trek bikes line) with the standalone Gary Fisher brand. Wikipedia
