Mongoose is a brand name for bicycles and BMX components that was established by Skip Hess in Simi Valley, California in 1974. The company's first product was the Motomag One wheel, and it quickly gained popularity for its durable BMX bikes. In the early years, Mongoose produced 600 frames per day at its location in Chatsworth, LA. In 1985, the company was bought by the American Group and marketed by their subsidiary. In 1995, Bell Sports acquired the American Group, and in 1997, the Brunswick Outdoor Recreation Group bought Mongoose. In 2000, Brunswick sold the brand to Pacific Cycle, which was then acquired by Dorel Industries in 2004. Finally, in 2021, Netherlands-based Pon Holdings acquired Dorel Sports, and the two companies combined to become a leading bicycle manufacturing company in the world. Mongoose is known for its hardtail and full-suspension mountain bikes and has worked with riders such as Dennis McCoy, Kevin Peraza, and Simon Tabron to develop its products. Wikipedia
