Around 25 years ago, in 1987, Quintana Roo was the first company to launch a triathlon-specific wetsuit. After its success, the brand launched a tri-specific bicycle. Founded by the Ironman fame Dan Empfield, the brand is currently owned by American Bicycle Group. As the market for triathlon cycles was not much wider, Empfield came up with Quintana Roo Superform, a bicycle that is specifically designed for triathlon. Superform was the first cycle that was ever built from the aerobars back and had an 80-degree steep seat angle design.
