Schwinn, an American-origin bicycle parts manufacturing brand, was founded in 1895 by Ignaz Schwinn and Adolph Frederick William Arnold, both German immigrants. Throughout the 20th century, Schwinn was a dominant player in the US bicycle industry. However, the company declared bankruptcy in 1992 and was taken over by Pacific Cycles, which moved its production to Asia. Schwinn is now owned by a Chinese corporation and continues to provide innovative products for riders of all ages.
